An INFAMOUS Contest

Ratsos.small

Hey! I know I don’t normally post on Tuesdays, but I just wanted to let you all know that this is a special week — seven days from now, on August 6th, THE INFAMOUS RATSOS will be published!

To commemorate that special day, starting tomorrow, I’ll post EVERY DAY about the experiences and people that inspired me to write the book. And every day, I’ll be running a KINDNESS CONTEST. Here’s how it will work…

THE INFAMOUS RATSOS is a book about how even the “toughest” among us has the capacity to be nice, and thoughtful, and generous, and helpful. Starting with my post tomorrow, let me know in the comments section what you’ve done lately to be nice, or thoughtful, or generous, or helpful (or all of the above!). I’ll choose one name at random per day to receive a signed book, a bookmark, and some INFAMOUS RATSOS “Hang Tough” tattoos (aka “rattoos”). Even if you don’t win a book, you might still be eligible to snag some Ratsos swag!

Got it? Let’s do this! And please, be sure to spread the word about this week-long Kindness Contest, which starts TOMORROW. Looking forward to hearing just how awesome you all are in the days to come…

  1. Kindness can be a 2 way street or a single lane highway. Streets are typically shorter which is why when there are people working together to be kind, it makes the journey so much more pleasurable than trying to travel the highway alone. Recently, we (some of the kindest folks I know and I,) were able to share books with some incredible children from Uganda and Kenya. This “act of kindness” turned out to be one of the single most dynamic moments in my life. You see, sometimes the “act” itself has more impact on your own heart than you felt it would have on another. Don’t get me wrong, the faces of these children who received these gifts of books, had never received such a gift. They were overjoyed and oh so grateful!
    So, “our” act of kindness was multiplied exponentially by bonding together with others. Life is a journey…I am so extremely grateful to travel it with some of the kindest people in the universe!!
    Lovie =)

    • P.S. Even though my contest didn’t start until yesterday, I’d still love to send you a little something for your lovely words (and deeds). Drop me a line at karalareau@me.com with your mailing address, so I can send you some Ratsos swag! 🙂

      • How precious are you?!? You don’t have to send a thing, I just loved the idea you had and wanted to promote kindness. If you don’t know Terry Shay, Peter Reynolds, & Anne Izra-Leget, then you should get to know these amazingly generous people…#igetbywithalittlehelpfrommyfriends

  2. Hi Kara!
    What a great idea for a contest. I love seeing authors build a base of love and kindness for their work. Kindness is giving of yourself without expecting anything in return. Today I spent time with a mentee, who is struggling to find his passion in life. After years of success, he still is looking. I shared with him that every challenge is an opportunity to open a new door. I encourage all my mentees to be kind to themselves, for they are already perfect, they just don’t know it yet!
    Looking forward to reading your book!
    All the very best success – you are making a difference!
    Hugs!
    PJ
